Beethoven, The Last Three Sonatas

Imogen Cooper is considered one of the finest interpreters of the classical and romantic repertoire and is internationally renowned for her virtuosity. She herself says that she focused on Op. 110 for a long time and only found the courage to approach the two sonatas Op. 109 and 111 at a late stage. Ludwig van Beethoven began work on his final piano sonata in 1821 while he was composing the Missa solemnis, and it caused astonishment at the time because it was structured in only two movements. Joining the three Beethoven sonatas is Béla Bartók’s first “Dirge” from what is actually a set of four pieces. The globally highly esteemed Imogen Cooper has been honored with a "DBE" by the British royal family and has received numerous other titles and awards.
