Description

The BR-KLASSIK Bach Project, a contribution by the BR to "Luther 2017 – 500 Years of the Reformation", is available in two versions: once as a complete DVD edition and once as a CD box set, both performed by the Chorus of the Bavarian Broadcasting under the direction of Peter Dijkstra, as well as by the ensembles Concerto Köln and Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin. The Bach Project, which began in 2010 with the Chorus of the Bavarian Broadcasting under the direction of Peter Dijkstra, finds its conclusion with the complete recording of the Mass in B minor, which was recorded in April 2016 in the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residenz and is being published here for the first time. It now includes Bach's four masterpieces – the three "Protestant Oratorios" as well as the "Great Catholic Mass" – in outstanding artistic quality, with renowned vocal soloists and accompanied by top-tier ensembles of the historically informed performance practice: three works were created in collaboration with Concerto Köln, another with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin.
