Arvo Pärt

Arvo Pärt is the most performed contemporary composer worldwide. And yet he rarely appears in public, prefers to remain silent about his music, feels particularly at home in the forests of Estonia, and thus perhaps unintentionally creates the image of a hermit that is repeatedly attributed to him. Adam's Passion is the first and moving collaborative work of two "masters of deceleration who harmonized perfectly with each other" (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung): In the spectacular setting of a former submarine factory, the American multidisciplinary artist Robert Wilson creates a poetic visual world in which the mystical sound language of the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt can unfold its meditative allure. The documentary "The Lost Paradise" accompanies Arvo Pärt over the period of one year in Estonia as well as on trips to the Vatican and Japan. The framing for the film is the staging of Adam’s Passion, in which the worldviews of the two great artists Arvo Pärt and Robert Wilson are reflected. The Lost Paradise accompanies the creative process and thus enables intense and personal insights into the world of two fascinating personalities of the international art and music scene.
