A Monolith's Dream

"A Monolith’s Dream" by Teleport Collective is a musical portrait in two acts. The first act explores a post-human world in which human existence is obsolete. The pieces are fully composed, appearing nostalgic and at times kitschy. Alluding to science fiction film scores, a (retro-)futuristic garment of lo-fi and groove is woven.

The second act exposes the dead end of human civilization: in the pulsating cycle of production and consumption, the downfall looms simultaneously. The dark and industrial moods of the largely improvised pieces underscore this oppressive atmosphere. Teleport Collective succeeds in demonstrating the underlying critical potential of music: looking at the present from the future in order to unleash transformative powers.

Teleport Collective is an electronic jazz trio from Vienna. Their music can be defined as "electrified jazz," whose influences can be found in contemporary avant-garde and film scores just as much as in delicately intricate hip-hop grooves or mechanical dance beats, with a tendency to always surrender to the free fall of improvisation and experimental sound.
