Adams, John
John Adams was born in Worcester in 1947 and lives and works as a composer. John Adams is an American composer and conductor. He is among the most frequently performed composers of contemporary classical music and is particularly well-known for his operas, many of which address historical events. In addition to opera, his oeuvre includes orchestral, concert, vocal, choral, chamber, electroacoustic, and piano music. His earliest work was oriented toward modernist music, but when he read John Cage’s "Silence: Lectures and Writings," he began to disagree with its principles. His musical legacy remains vibrant worldwide and continues to be received with great attention.
