Glerup’s quartet, imbued with echoes of Samuel Beckett, captures the absurd beauty of life’s endless loops, from walks in the park to daydreams in the pub. The Clarinet Quintet, a labyrinth of musical allusions—from Boulez to Brahms—blends past and present in a tribute to the voices that shaped Glerup’s own, creating a sound world that is both familiar and fascinatingly new. Rune Glerup (born 1981) began his studies in Denmark and later immersed himself in the artistic life of Berlin and Paris. He studied at IRCAM, the music research institute founded by Pierre Boulez. He has composed works for Ensemble intercontemporain, Isabelle Faust, and Trio con Bio Copenhagen.
