Based on a libretto by August Zeune, Carl Loewe composed the oratorio \"Jan Hus\" and premiered it in Berlin in December 1841. Like all of Loewe's oratorios, this rarely performed work deserves greater attention. The Arcis Vocalists and the Baroque orchestra L'arpa festante, conducted by Thomas Gropper, who previously gave the first performance of Loewe's \"Sacrifice of Atonement of the New Covenant,\" have
