The program of "Canto da Saudade" highlights Brazilian music from various eras and styles, reaching beyond the best-known composers. This insight illustrates how much there is to discover in the history of Brazil, whose breadth is also reflected in its music. The album includes fourteen works by composers such as Alexandre Levy and Carlos Gomes, as well as Villa-Lobos, Guarnieri, Mignone, Gnattali, Nobre, and Miranda, tracing the development of Brazilian music from 19th-century Romanticism through 20th-century nationalism to post-war modernism.
Violinist Cármelo de los Santos and pianist Ney Fialkow, both highly regarded figures in the Brazilian music scene, combine their busy careers as soloists and chamber musicians with teaching positions—de los Santos as a professor of violin at the University of New Mexico, and Fialkow as a full professor at the Instituto de Artes of the UFRGS in Porto Alegre.

Number

Title

Duration

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1067/4759/3036/files/5400439008397-Kurze-Brasilianische-Werke-fur-Violine-und-Klavie-cover.webp?v=1792422785
https://shop.naxos.de/en/products/kurze-brasilianische-werke-fur-violine-und-klavier-canto-da-saudade
